Latest from the world
of cycling before it happens
Lance Armstrong is in a bit of a quandary. We heard
he was due to announce his new team on June 1 and it would take over
from Astana, but the Kazhaks have rained on his parade by paying the
team all they owed plus two months in advance.
No one knows now under which banner the team will ride the Tour
de France.
High Road have secured two further year’s funding
when their current contract with Columbia runs out. Mark Cavendish
is close to signing another two-year contract with them.
The Tour of Spain will return to its April slot in
2010, which is where it was in the cycling calendar until the 1990s,
but it will be two instead of three
weeks long.
