Quick Step Steegmans stitched up Quick Step's super-sprinter and Tom Boonen's key lead out rider, Gert Steegmans suffered a set back yesterday when he crashed on the second stage of the Vuelta a Andalucia. Steegmans, who won the Challenge Mallorca recently, needed seven stitches to a wound on his chin. He will fly home to Belgium this afternoon and undergo further tests. With luck his injury will not affect Steegmans preparations for the big Belgian Classic races, which are the most important part of the Quick Step team's year.
