Long Course duathlon championships
Geel in the eastern province of Antwerpen will host the world long Course duathlon championships on 10th August 2008. Participation details can

The race distances are 10km run, 60km bike and 10km run, and the course is a flat multi-lap circuit based on the town.
Geel has a long tradition of running successful duathlon events. The sport is very popular in this part of Belgium as it is the region that Benny Van Steelant came from.
Van Steelant was a multi world champion at this sport, as well as at one time being simultaniously the Belgian Beloften time trial on the bike and half marathon champion at running
He was arguably the best duathlete the world has ever seen, but was tragically killed in a road accident in 2007.
For cycling enthusiasts, Geel is the home town of former Belgian pro champion Ludo Dierkxens.
